And on the day before the Vista launch the Gods said….

...let's break lukes tablet for shits and giggles. The screens gone. I either get red lines, as seen above, or blue lines (when the background is white). The great thing tho is if I move a Aero Glass window over a screwed up area it looks perfect :) glass rocks. Now how to turn the whole screen to be glass? Oh well, I'll have to contact toshiba tomorrow about getting it fixed. Luckily it's under warranty still (fingers crossed). So I've been using Vista RTM for 2months now and on the day its released to the hordes I have to stop using it. I hope...

Web based news reader?

I'm looking for a web based newsgroup reader, so no matter what computer I'm on I have access to what I've marked as interest and what I've replied to. Currently I'm using Windows Live Mail Desktop, I have used MS Outlook in the past and a NNTP plugin for Office Outlook. Google groups works great with the one exception, if I post something then my email address gets exposed to the WWW and I can't seem to find a way to edit it so add the usual 'NOSPAM' text, which I'm sure is a pointless effort as spammers probably parse the addresses to remove this. I just made...

More popular than superbowl.com

I've been getting shitloads of traffic to my blog lately from msn search. Last year I blogged about 'superbowl sunday', and since that time of year must be almost upon us (i have no idea when it is) people must be googling for it. It turns out its because everytime I get a visit to my blog, the referreral webpage is logged and listed. After the first person searched for Superbowl sunday 2007 it got listed. The search engine picked up on this and boosted me higher in their list which caused more people to see my post and those referral links to be stored. As a result I...

Managed Nabaztag API

I blogged about wanting a Nabaztag a while back. we got one in our office the other week. It reads notifies us when someone joins the portal, purchases stuff and you can even send it a message to read out. I worked on a managed api in the evenings to wrap up the one provided by Violet, so messages could be constructed easily and sent. And i'm pleased to announce I have made it Open Source. I wanted to get it put under source control and the cheapest way is to open source it, as then you can use one of the many free source control hosts. I went with Microsoft's...

SportsDo on Ski Sunday

Graham Bell briefly showed SportsDo on tv the other day. Check out his camera run from Val D'Isere. I doubt I'll be going as fast as him in 2 weeks when I'm there.

I want javascript code behind

ASP.NET provides a great feature, code behind files, where the high level language (C#/VB.NET) can sit in a separate file to the UI markup of the page. But what about Javascript? Well you create a javascript file and shove it in a folder, I tend to use /scripts, and then add a script include reference to it, or put the javascript within the HTML page. The problem with putting it in an external file is you can't use <%= control.UniqueID %> to get the ID of a control on that page after its rendered (you would have to 'hardcode' that id). If the javascript is with the HTML you can use...

Theres not much on google but a few people have the same problem. One forum post reply solved my problem tho...it's M$ and their DRM/e Ultimate Edition 2007 SP4 DRM You cannot copy an image if you haven't downloaded license for it from m$

Let’s get Gyrating

This is a neat Media Center Remote. It has gyration technology allowing the couch potato to move the cursor on their Vista Media Center PC. All it needs extra is to be a Windows Visa SideShow Remote!

My pick of CES goodness

I'm shattered, I stayed up like a good geek and watched Bill Gates CES (Consumer Electronics Show) Keynote. The keynote being at 6:30pm Pacific time making it 2:30am my time. A few cool things I can't wait for from the keynote: Windows Ultimate Extras - well mainly just the one makes me go 'ooo' and I like things which make me go 'ooo'. Windows DreamScene allows you to play a high-def video (mpeg or wmv) as your desktop background. During the keynote the background was a pretty high def image of a waterfall. Then the presenter enabled DreamScene and the background came to life with flowing water 'ooo'. It will probably...
